Spectator drags freedom factory12/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Bradenton Motorsports Park and the Freedom Factory are facing a major threat… 4,500 new homes right next door to our historic racetracks. "ATTENTION neighbors, friends, and followers. We've seen how this scenario plays out all over the country already. The Freedom Factory and the neighboring Bradenton Motorsports Park were built way outside the urban development boundaries for noise considerations, now the county wants to build a housing development right next door. ![]() This isn’t my insta but here’s one of my races in the Golf….Regardless of whether you like him or not, this post is kind of infuriating. Lost to a C5 Z06, beat a E36 M3, and then lost to a Dodge Stealth. Second time out I took the Golf R and was able to push a lot more. Maybe with some more seat time I’d feel confident with that much power. Not my proudest moment but I didn’t crash so…. It was a parade lap and I lost to an F-body and then to a freaking VW. My first time out I took the Hellcat and didn’t even try to push though the turns. ![]() Was it fun? Hell yeah! It’s definitely not smash up derby out there but contact can happen. There really two classes of racers out there. They’ve been holding spectator drags for as long as I can remember here in the Northeast US. ![]() That being said, if it's something you're considering or you actually know a place that still does it, I would not recommend it. What's the worst about it, is you'll have a lot of your good ole' boys running their tuned up beater around the track SUPER aggressively with 0 regard as to whether they put themselves or others in unnecessary dangerous situations as a way to mitigate their incompetence as a driver.Īlso, LOTS of fights and brawls when someone hit another person's car. My friends and I would go to watch and I ran my 5th gen Camaro a few times for fun against my friends. They did it as some sort of initiative to keep people from street racing on the back roads (which, ironically im pretty sure made it worse). But, in actual practice its a huge liability and it's a "when" and not "if" a car gets wrecked.Ībout 10 years ago, there was a circle track in middle TN that still did them as kind of like a low key side thing. Used to be popular quite a few years ago and it's fun to watch and looks fun to do on paper. I'm sure the video you saw is one of quite a few from Cleetus McFarland freedom factory, but basically it's a single lap circle track race where amateur drivers can enter their cars or pair up racing other vehicles.
